“Baie Dankie!!! It was such a pleasure to see your show – it’s been far too long since I last saw you perform (at the Market Theatre in approx. 1994). Great, thought-provoking and laughter-inducing show.” -Robyn L
“it was fantastic! very educational. pieter’s versatility and his courage to speak up is astounding. particularly touching was his sharing about the experiences in his youth that made him aware of racism. Thank you.” -uli D.
“Thank you again for coming to America and sharing your comedy, wisdom, heart and your soul with us. You are as always, an inspiration. Pieter-Dirk Uys was as usual a fabulous performer, using a perfect combination of satire and emotive storytelling to comment on South Africa’s political past and present as well as important social issues. It was a brilliantly written and acted production!” -Martine B
And from earlier in the weekend…
“This is our 2nd show – this time after a trip to SA. The 1st one was funnier and dealt with the heroic themes of transition to democracy. I spoke with an African political science specialist who suggests that 1) the transition was “golden” but 2) now things have settled to the typical problems of a new democracy. He also added that it is a great sign that you can critique the government – that would not go over well in some countries.
The Hillary and Obama connections probably made it more relevant for an American audience – the new SA problems might have been news to them.” -Jan B
“Pieter, thank you for all the fabulous work that you do. I have been a fan since the mid ’80s. Outstanding! As a South African who emigrated last year, there were some bitter pills to swallow. Pieter’s genius is in telling the truth as it is and of course making us collapse laughing at ourselves in the process.” -Yvonne W
