We’ve gotten about 1/3 through the piece, but we are behind schedule and need more tech time. Robert sounded the alarm to the Festival Director that we need to begin earlier tomorrow, at 8am. The presence of Denise Marika’s video in the work—4 separate projection areas–complicates the technical needs, and requires that the lighting be incredibly specific so as to not bleed into the video precincts, the cues need to be spot-on accurate. Also requiring time is the sound balance between live musicians and singers, recorded sound effects, and the mix through the on stage monitors—a sonic world as complicated as the visual. And my costume is bloody hot—a lined silk suit covered by a floor length rubber trench coat and knee high leather boots.
